Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Launches Online Access to Media Center
Nebraska citizens can browse media materials and place a request to borrow online
LINCOLN, Neb.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NCDHH) announced a new online service for the public to browse and request to borrow educational materials such as books, videos, and games from the NCDHH Media Center.
“This new online service will enable NCDHH to advance on its mission to enhance effective communication and education for Nebraskans who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or Hard of Hearing and reach an audience across the state,” said Dr. Peter Seiler, Executive Director of NCDHH. “The Media Center operates as a lending center similar to a public library.”
Before this new online service was launched, media items could be checked out from NCDHH by visiting the Media Center in the Lincoln office or calling and e-mailing a request to the Media Center for an item to be mailed. This service enables the public to learn about deafness, hearing loss, interpreting and other related topics, but it was limited to those who can easily visit the Lincoln office during business hours to browse the available materials. Now that the service is online, citizens have access during and outside of the Commissions office hours and without traveling to Lincoln.
This new service is offered on the NCDHH website; http://www.ncdhh.ne.gov/index.html and is available 24 hours a day at no cost to the user.
NCDHH provides many other online services including:
- Forms to create personalized communication cards for the deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing
- A calendar of events
- Information request, registry and complaint forms
