David Fincher seems to be moving forward on 20th Century Fox’s Gone Girl, based on the bestselling novel by Gillian Flynn. The studio has been developing the project with Fincher since January.
The story centers on a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary, and all signs point to her husband as the killer. Although Reese Witherspoon is on board to produce, Deadline says she won’t be starring in the film. But considering Fincher’s track record, the studio will likely have little trouble in finding a leading lady.
