Teams from West Virginia and New Mexico among those to use Nexia™ Home Intelligence System

DAVIDSON, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Ingersoll Rand (NYS: IR) , a world leader in creating and sustaining safe, comfortable and efficient environments, is offering home automation technology including the NexiaTM Home Intelligence System to the 20 international teams participating in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013, October 3-13, Irvine Park, California. The technology will help the contestants gain more insight into total energy used in their house projects and allow them to make better decisions in achieving maximum efficiency.

Having a simple, easy to use system that controls and monitors the home environment, including temperature and comfort settings, is an important element in effectively managing energy usage. The system allows users to link all of the security features and energy sources in a home and interact and adjust those sources from wherever at their convenience. The smart-home technology is completely wireless and can be managed via smart phones, tablets and computers from any location with internet access.
