Low-Skilled Immigration Opponents Should Favor Market Based Immigration

There’s an idea out there, proposed by Gary Becker and others, of creating a market-based immigration solution. Each year a fixed number of green cards or visas would be auctioned off to the highest bidder.  There are a variety of objections to such an immigration platform, but it seems to me that if you oppose low-skilled immigration then this is exactly the program you’d want.

Carbon Tax…Are Republicans Really That Stupid?

As much as I admire former Secretary of State George Shultz, and because I do, I was totally flummoxed by a recent Wall Street Journal article he co-authored with economist Nobel laureate Gary Becker. Incredulously, the two senior fellows at Stanford University’s conservative Hoover Institution expressed support for a “carbon neutral” tax on carbon.
