Those are just a few of the silly scenarios that could become a virtual reality with “Disney Infinity,” a new endeavor from Disney combining a video game with a toy line.

Your First Look at Disney Infinity
After much speculation, Disney Infinity was fully unveiled for 360, PS3, Wii, WiiU, 3DS, PC and Mobile at a event in Hollywood today hosted by John Lasseter and John Pleasants, Chief Creative Office and Co-President at Disney respectively. It is scheduled to arrive this summer.
The game will, as reports had suggested, build on the play mechanics of Avalanche Software’s Toy Story 3: The Video Game that offered both a campaign and Toy Box game-maker modes.
More surprising is the inclusion of a comprehensive set of 30+ Disney Infinity toy figures. These characters, which unusually span different Disney franchises, work in a similar way to Skylanders figures. Place them on the Infinity Base USB peripheral, Disney’s very own Portal of Power, and they provide instant access to characters in the game.

Disney Infinity is Minecraft Meets LittleBigPlanet
Disney will announce an ambitious, open-world sandbox game called Disney Infinity in January 2013, according to a report. Disney Infinity is planned to take advantage of unspecified consoles, Android devices, and Apple’s iPad for cross-platform play.
Assets leaked to Polygon detail characters, gameplay scenarios, mechanics, and character skills for Disney Infinity. For example, Woody from Toy Story uses a Just Cause 2-esque tether to stick to an aircraft controlled by Buzz Lightyear, which slings him into the sky. In another scenario, a player flings explosives from a slingshot to tear down a block castle. On the opposite end of the destruction spectrum, you can compile various pieces to construct a racetrack. Other abilities include invisibility, ranged combat, damage modifiers, and swimming, each appropriate to the character you control.
