Disney has hired Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman to script a new project called Terra Incognita.
Variety has the report, adding that very little is known about the proposed film aside from the fact that it is based on an original pitch. Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy) will produce.
Perlman is a graduate of Disney’s writer’s program. In addition to Marvel’s Guardians, she also wrote the unproduced Challenger, First Man and Capture the Flag, all of which are apparently “space themed.” She’s also overseeing Disney’s adaptation of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, based on the ride.

Seth MacFarlane Plans Western Comedy
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s theatrical directorial debut Ted was a hit, no doubt about it. (He’s even hosting the Oscars next year in part due to the film’s success.) So what’s next for MacFarlane on the big screen? How about a trip to the Wild West?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer-director-voice-artist-etc. and his Ted co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild have written a script called A Million Ways to Die in the West.
The plan is for MacFarlane to star in and direct the Western comedy for a Summer, 2013, release, with the plot being described as “a Blazing Saddles-style movie — meaning a Western with contemporary humor, with one undercurrent being just how dangerous and painful life really was in the late 1800s.” So… Deadwood, but funny? (Actually, Deadwood was pretty funny at times.)

New Terminator Films (Finally) Coming
It’s taken a year and a half of negotiating, but Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison has closed a deal with Pacificor to acquire the rights to The Terminator series. The plan is to make a new group of movies, with Ellison’s brother David now set to co-produce the films through his Skydance Productions. The rights also include potential TV projects, home entertainment, merchandise and video games, according to The Wrap.
Deadline notes that “the big numbers in place 18 months ago have been adjusted downward” — referring to the over $20 million that Megan Ellison pledged for the rights 18 months ago. This is because new copyright laws mean that the North American rights to The Terminator could revert back to creator James Cameron in 2019 (35 years after Terminator’s 1984 release). The final amount paid by Ellison’s company has not been disclosed.

The Clone Wars: "Secret Weapons" Reviews
Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Apologies for this review going up late, as I was on a work trip to Vancouver when this episode of The Clone Wars aired.
The bright blue version of The Clone Wars logo at the start of this episode was fun – a nod to R2-D2, just as they’ve used a red version for the Darth Maul-centric episode. Unfortunately, what followed that logo was… less than fun.
This episode just didn’t work. It’s not that The Clone Wars can’t do a light-hearted, humorous storyline, but this one fall flat.
Colonel Meebur Gascon wasn’t funny. And WAC-47 really wasn’t funny. Just a week before, The Clone Wars went for a classic bit of cartoon slapstick (Byph running in place as he was held back) and I loved it – but when WAC walked into a wall, while boasting about his abilities, it felt obvious and tired. They say comedy is timing and the timing was off in this one.
